Timberland Launches 3 New 'Regenerative Leather' Shoes

Ahead of Earth Day 2021, Land to Market partner Timberland expands footwear offerings made with leather sourced from verified regenerating land.

Leading up to Earth Day 2021, and in partnership with the Savory Institute's Land to Market program, Timberland launches a new, eco-conscious collection of hikers. Made using "Regenerative Leather", the new Greenstride™ Solar Wave EK+ Collection helps the brand work toward its vision for Timberland® products to have a net positive impact on Nature by 2030.

The Greenstride Solar Wave EK+ Collection (in Mid, High and Low Fabric styles) is packed with eco-conscious materials from heel to toe. In addition to Regenerative Leather in the uppers, GreenStride™ soles are made of 75% renewable materials. A combination of sugar cane and natural rubber from trees provides natural comfort for a full day of adventure, in the city and beyond. These new offerings are Earthkeepers® Edition styles, marked with an EK+ to reflect Timberland’s pinnacle eco-innovations in terms of both materials and methods of make.

The Greenstride™ Solar Wave EK+ Collection joins several styles now featuring Regenerative Leather, working toward Timberland’s goal for 100% of its natural materials be sourced from regenerative agriculture. Regenerative practices mimic nature, enabling the land to pull carbon out of the atmosphere (where it’s not wanted) and efficiently store it in the ground, rebuilding the structure of the soil and leading to healthy, hydrated, fertile ground – and ultimately, net positive impacts for the land and the farmers.

The Timberland PRO line for the skilled trades will introduce its first Regenerative Leather boot this summer, the Gridworks EK+.

“As Earth Day approaches, we are striving toward a greener and more equitable future with the launch of the Greenstride™ Solar Wave EK+ Collection,” said Drieke Leenknegt, global vice president of marketing for Timberland. “The use of innovative eco-materials like Regenerative Leather represents important progress as we pursue our 2030 vision for Timberland® products to have a net positive impact on Nature.”

The Greenstride™ Solar Wave EK+ Collection launches April 15th at Timberland® specialty stores, wholesale accounts and on timberland.com. For more information about Timberland’s commitment to better product, stronger communities and a greener world, visit the brand’s responsibility site.
